The city of Sioux Falls just gave downtown drivers an early Christmas present on Thursday, December 15 (2016) when they made the announcement that Tenth Street near the Copper Lounge building collapse is fully open to traffic again.

KDLT TV is reporting that the Copper Lounge demolition and debris cleanup is now complete, and all three lanes of Tenth Street are fully open to westbound traffic. In addition to the street being open to traffic, the sidewalks around the collapse site and Mall Avenue on the east side of the site are also open.

City Engineer, Chad Huwe says, “Thank you for your patience over the past two weeks as streets and lanes were closed downtown. It’s wonderful to get traffic, both for vehicles and pedestrians, back to normal.”

Now that things are finally starting to get back to normal, the city wants to remind drivers that the speed limit in this area of downtown is 20 mph. They ask, that you please, slow down, watch for pedestrians, and keep your eyes on the road.
