A week ago, the Legends Banquet was at the Sanford Pentagon and the 2015 Legends for Kids campaign started off exactly as its name states, legendary.

With just under $1.3 million dollars raised so far, the legends for kid’s banquet has continually reached new heights and this year’s Legends for Kids banquet continued the trend. Held in the Sanford Pentagon for the second straight year the Legends for Kids events brought yet another star studded cast of hall of fame athletes.

This year’s roster included NBA and college basketball great Ralph Sampson, two Minnesota Twins greats in Tim Laudner and Kent Hrbek, NFL hall of famer Michel Irvin, local South Dakota legends like Chad Greenway, and for the first time to Legends for Kids clinics an NHL legend in Neal Broten.

The Sanford Pentagon has been a great place to host the event with its modern and high end facility, that’s tech friendly allowing for a new mobile bidding system for a faster, more enjoyable silent auction.

As Legends Coordinator and Sanford Sports Complex Marketing Manager Tyler Schulte told us, "This event keeps getting better and better every year. From the camps to the Banquet to the golf tournament, its all about raising a lot of money for the kids and helping them learn the right way to play sports from some great legends."

The Legends for Kids banquet provides an impact to the community that goes far beyond the money raised. All of the proceeds from the Legends for Kids events go directly into grants, free clinics, and starting in 2016 three $10,000 dollar scholarships.

The chance to learn from the greatest athletes to have blessed this earth with their talent is something that will resonate with the kids throughout their lifetime. The chance to meet with any one of these celebrity athletes will resonate with the adults throughout their lifetime as well.

This year’s Legends for Kids banquet kicked off another successful and impactful campaign to give back to those who matter most, the kids.
