The youth in Sioux Falls are standing out and will be recognized for making a difference.

The Sioux Falls Downtown Lions Club will host a celebration to honor local teens for their volunteerism from noon to 1:00 pm Monday, March 20th at the Downtown Holiday Inn. 68 students will be recognized for their commitment to volunteer service. SALSA (Serve and Learn Student Association) is a program of the Helpline Center that engages high school students in making a difference in our community through volunteering.

The youth are all members of SALSA, which is the Leo Club for the Downtown Lions.

It is the largest Leo Club in the world with over 1,500 participants.

The youth honored at the event have all volunteered at least 50 hours in the past 12 months with many having volunteered over 100 hours in the same time frame.

The Downtown Lions will also announce their nominee for the International Leo of the Year Award for 2017. For the last 9 years the Sioux Falls Downtown Lions Club nominee has received the International Leo of the Year Award.
