This Sunday, millions of people around the globe will be watching the Seattle Seahawks battle the New England Patriots for the Lombardi trophy in Super Bowl XLIX.  Whether you're a football fan or not, you will more than likely tune in at some point to catch a glimpse of the score, see a commercial or enjoy the halftime entertainment.

Over the years, we've had some amazing halftime performances from some of the biggest names in music.  Last year set the record for halftime show viewers when 115 million people tuned in to see Bruno Mars perform with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The trend of having major music stars appear at the Super Bowl halftime show only dates back to 1991, when New Kids on the Block performed. Before that, the halftime show usually consisted of marching bands, or the vocal troupe Up With People.

I'm a huge Janet Jackson fan, so that 2004 performance was one of my favorites. Of course, no one will forget it because of the controversy surrounding it. We'll forever remember the notorious 'wardrobe malfunction.'

Super Bowl organizers were a little freaked out after Janet's performance, so after that they brought in less controversial classic rock acts like Paul McCartney, The Who, Tom Petty, the Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen.

In 2011, pop music returned by popular demand.  The Black Eyed Peas took the stage with rock guitar God, Slash taking the stage with Fergie at one point.  I heard many bad comments about Fergie's performance of "Sweet Child 'O Mine", but I enjoyed it. Maybe my love for Slash overshadowed Fergie's vocals.

This year, Katy Perry will perform with Lenny Kravitz and a special guest.  I've heard the special guest is rap star Missy Elliot who was featured on Katy's hit, "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F).   I was hoping the secret special guest was going to be Taylor Swift. Katy and Taylor are basically enemies with Taylor supposedly writing the song "Bad Blood" about Katy.  This is what Taylor told Rolling Stone magazine.

For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not.  She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, "Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?"  She did something so horrible, I was like, "Oh, we're just straight-up enemies." And it wasn't even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.

TMZ.com said the feud ignited when three of Taylor's dancers quit to go work for Katy Perry. Taylor 'felt betrayed' because she had considered the dancers as family,
