You would think that after producing 18 years worth of Christmas at the Cathedral performances the creativity would be running a bit thin, but nothing could be further from the truth.

This year's Christmas spectacular is told from the perspective of the shepherds keeping watch over their flocks. The first year that I experienced this stunning event the Christmas story was told from Mary's viewpoint as the mother of Jesus became the narrator.

This year you again have six opportunities to see the breathtaking performance of this Sioux Falls Christmas classic:

  • Thursday, December 18th and Friday, December 19th at 7:30 pm
  • Saturday, December 20th at 1 pm and again at 7:30 pm
  • Sunday, December 21st at 2 pm and again at 7:30 pm

These performances are open to everyone and I've found that each person takes away something special from this. Whether it is a deepening of your faith, a spiritual renewal just in time for Christmas, or a wonderment at the structural marvel and historic treasure the cathedral is itself, you will find something to connect with. If nothing else the incredible music, voices and acting will wrap you in a holiday spirit you don't need to understand, but only feel!

Proceeds from this year's performances will support the continued restoration of St. Joseph's Cathedral and the construction and ongoing advocacy of the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House.
