Proving once again, you can never be too careful while hiking and camping this summer, a Chicago-area man on a mission trip suffered serious injuries after falling 150 feet in Badlands National Park in South Dakota on Saturday, July 11 2015.

The 26-year old man was hiking with a group around 2 PM on Saturday near Sheep Mountain Table in southwest South Dakota when he fell, according to the Pennington County sheriff's office.

The sheriff’s office did not immediately identify the man.

He was airlifted from the park to Rapid City Regional Hospital Saturday afternoon in a helicopter from the South Dakota National Guard. There was no additional word on the extent of his injuries as of Sunday night.

The Illinois man was rescued with the assistance of Oglala Sioux tribal law enforcement officers, Pennington County Search and Rescue, Badlands National Park Rangers and the Rapid Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
