Accused Burglar Caught in Sioux Falls
A Sioux Falls man is charged with several offenses after he was arrested early Sunday in connection with a pawn shop break-in.
Police say an employee of Taco John’s, at 1100 South Minnesota Avenue, called at 1:18 am Sunday to report seeing a man leaving Action Pawn & Gun, at 1005 South Minnesota, and then hiding among some vehicles in the lot at Subaru of Sioux Falls, next door to the pawn shop.
When police arrived, the man ran south, but he was caught after a foot pursuit.
Officers say Juan Carlos Aleman had entered the pawn shop through a roof air vent. Once inside, he stole some power hand tools and was in the process of trying to steal a vehicle off the Subaru lot when he was confronted by police.
Aleman was arrested and charged with 3rd-degree burglary, 1st-degree intentional damage to property, attempted grand theft, tampering with a motor vehicle, and fleeing police.
