Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center in southeast Sioux Falls has been closed because of what's called a 'fecal incident.' It's the second such incident at a city pool this week.

City Parks and Recreation officials say the closing is based on guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and City Health Department.

The federal and city guidelines state when a fecal incident occurs, chlorine levels are substantially raised and kept at that level for a recommended length of time in order to properly disinfect the water to make it safe for everyone.

The Parks and Recreation Department says swimming lessons scheduled for Laurel Oak today will continue as scheduled as land lessons.

The Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center is anticipated to open at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
