Anyone that loves the outdoors has got to be jonesing right about now, the summer camping season will be here before you know it!

Can I get an Amen?

Time to get your 3-season tent, your camper, your hammock and all your other gear ready to go, because South Dakota is packed full of great camping vacation destinations.

The state is home to 56 state parks and recreation areas including Angostura, Good Earth, North Point, Okobojo and Custer State Park.

All perfect places to do a little hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, kayaking, boating – you name it.

Last year South Dakota state parks hosted over 290,000 nights of camping for in- and out-of-state guests. More people camped in our parks last year than ever before.

This year will be no exception, as state park officials are expecting the 2015 camping season to be just as busy.

With that in mind, now is a great time to start making your summer camping reservations.

Early summer dates are already available. Starting the first week of April, you’ll be able to make reservations for the Fourth of July weekend, which always ends up being the most popular camping weekend of the year in South Dakota.

There are two easy ways to make reservations for your favorite campground in South Dakota, you can visit campsd.com or call 1-800-710-2267.

Happy camping!
