Planning on doing some hiking this summer? You'll always know where you are while hiking the trails of South Dakota with this app.

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department now has an interactive map that makes it easier for visitors to navigate trails statewide.

The map gives you a look at non-motorized trails managed by the department statewide. The app allows users to view the trails on a topographic map or by aerial photography.

It's a must have for any outdoors lover. Visitors can see where they are on a given trail by turning on their phone's GPS feature. That according to state park assistant director, Al Nedved.

Some of the app's features include things like; trail distance, surface type, types of use — such as hiking, biking and cross-country skiing and any special highlights of a trail.

Get this, aside from hiking and trail info, the GFP app also shows hunting and fishing regulations. I think you just found another Father's Day gift idea.

SDGFP Outdoors, is a free app and available to download for Android and Apple devices.
