For the first time in school history, the Augustana Women's Basketball Team has advanced to the "Elite Eight" in San Antonio, Texas.  The game will be broadcast live on KXRB Radio on Tuesday.

Jeff Holm, Associate Director of Augustana Athletics, says the faculty and students at Augustana College are excited. "You know I see a lot of smiles on people's faces.  I also see determination on their faces.  It seems as if our girls are not satisfied just by being there.  They will be tested right away.  They are facing the number one team in the country.  Clayton State (undefeated) was the national champion two years ago.  I believe our girls will be ready for the challenge.  Just being in the Elite Eight means the world to our women's basketball program.  It also means so much to our athletic department and our college as a whole. Our girls are not just athletics.  They are student athletics."

During last Monday's North Central Region Championship Game in Topeka, Kansas---Augustana Senior Alex Feeney hit 2 free throws with less than one second left in the game to give Augustana the win.  The final score:  Augustana 75 Emporia State 74.
