‘Batman vs. Superman’ Will Get the R-Rated Treatment on DVD and Blu-ray
Thanks, Deadpool! As predicted by many (including Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn), it looks like studios are already taking the wrong lesson from the record-breaking, R-rated superhero film. While Fox has already given the green light to an R-rated Wolverine sequel, Warner Bros. is getting a jump start on their own edgier superhero offerings, as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will have an R-rated alternate version when the film hits DVD and Blu-ray.
Dwayne Johnson Shares First Look at ‘Baywatch’ With Zac Efron
Following in the footsteps of 21 Jump Street, Dwayne Johnson’s R-rated Baywatch movie has the potential to be another great comedic riff to its classic ’90s predecessor. And while we await the inevitable news of a David Hasselhoff / Pamela Anderson cameo, Johnson has our first look at the upcoming film, featuring Zac Efron, new uniforms and a concept called “alpha balls.”
Daniel Craig Is Probably Done With James Bond, According to His BFF Mark Strong
Daniel Craig has made no secret that he wants to exit the 007 franchise, and if it were up to him, Spectre would have been his last outing as James Bond. During the press tour for the 24th Bond film, Craig was pretty blunt about his desire to leave the franchise behind, suggesting that he’d rather slit his wrists than play 007 again. It’s not entirely up to Craig, though, but according to his best pal and fellow actor Mark Strong, he might be done with the franchise. Or not. Who knows.
‘Zombieland 2’ Is Still in Development at Sony, For Some Reason
It’s been a long while since we’ve heard anything about the sequel to Ruben Fleischer’s Zombieland. Sony was reportedly fast-tracking the film back in 2014, with The Expendables scribe David Callaham working on the screenplay. Since then, we’d pretty much forgotten about Zombieland 2 — to be fair, the first film was great on its own, and while talk of a sequel seemed interesting back in 2010, it’s been six years and it doesn’t seem like fans are clamoring for a sequel.
‘Captain America: Civil War’ Also Features the Return of Pepper Potts
Gwyneth Paltrow is reprising her ‘Iron Man’ role for Marvel’s upcoming superhero epic.
Emily Blunt to Play Mary Poppins in Disney’s Sequel, As If There Was Any Other Option
It wasn’t long (a few days, actually) after Disney announced plans for a new Mary Poppins movie that a rumor began circulating that the studio had their sights set on Emily Blunt to play the title role. Someone at Disney must have a pretty strong vision board because Blunt is officially in talks to play the part originated by Julie Andrews in the 1964 classic. Wishes really do come true.
Ron Howard Reportedly Eyeing Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘Pinocchio’ Movie
Not to be confused with Disney’s ever-growing slate of live-action remakes which includes a Pinocchio project, Warner Bros.’ has had a Pinocchio movie of their own in development for years, with Robert Downey Jr. attached to play the role of puppet creator Gepetto. After repeatedly failing to secure a director, WB’s Pinocchio may have finally found its maker in Ron Howard, who is reportedly coming aboard to direct the long-gestating live-action take on the classic fairy tale.
Keira Knightley in Talks for Barbra Streisand’s Catherine the Great Biopic
It's been 20 years since Barbra Streisand directed a feature film, though there's been no shortage of her talents on stage and screen since. Streisand is ready to get back in the director's chair with an upcoming biopic about Catherine the Great, and it looks like Keira Knightley may be her leading lady in the film that follows the life of the famous Russian ruler.
‘Batman vs. Superman’ Star Ben Affleck Received Some Bat-Advice From Christian Bale and George Clooney
Zack Snyder recently revealed that he sought and received Christopher Nolan’s blessing for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (though it really sounded like Nolan just didn’t care), but he wasn’t the only one looking for approval for the upcoming superhero epic. Ben Affleck says that he also went to his Batman predecessors — not for their blessing, but for some helpful Bat-tips.
‘Kindergarten Cop 2’ Trailer: Dolph Lundgren Has Forsaken You
Here is the first trailer for Kindergarten Cop 2, which is a real movie and absolutely, 100 percent not an elaborate prank on you, Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger or some suit sitting in a Hollywood office. This is an actual movie that has been made, and the trailer allows you the opportunity to gaze into the abyss to see if it also gazes into you…or if it is a tumor after all.
