Avril Lavigne seems eternally 14 years old, and she owns it. The 'Here's to Never Growing Up' singer admits that her desire to be forever young is what drove the bulk of her new record -- and that her single was a bit of a rush job!

"It felt good when I was recording it in the booth when I was singing it," Lavigne told MTV News about her track. "I performed it at 11 o'clock at night and we were in this huge rush, so the producer stayed in the studio and pulled an all-nighter," she revealed. "And when I came back in the next day I heard it. I was like, 'That sounds like a single, I think this is it.' And when we played it for L.A. [Reid], immediately he was like, 'This is it. OK, let's go; let's put it out.' I'm like, 'What do you mean? I'm not done with my record.'"

As for why Lavigne wanted to release it anyway? Because, well, it sounds like her.

"It's pop rock, uptempo. It's a fun song. It's about wanting to be young forever," she explained. "Doesn't matter what age you are; it's all about your spirit, state of mind. And I know I certainly don't want to grow up, so there are more songs on the record like this."
