I think whenever a retailer sponsors an event and offers to donate funds to an organization that benefits our entire community, we should all get behind it. Barnes & Noble, on 41st Street here in Sioux Falls is hosting a book fair on Saturday May 3, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. All you have to do is simply mention the book fair when you're checking out with your purchases that day and a portion of the sale will be donated to our wonderful Siouxland Libraries.

So whether you're buying music, books, picking up an e-reader, or getting your weekly magazine fix, don't forget to mention "the book fair" when you're paying. You'll be helping to support all the great educational, informational and recreational programs the Sioux Falls libraries offer.

The Siouxland Libraries in turn will have fun, free activities for children going on at Barnes & Noble that day. If your kids love Clifford the Big Red Dog, don't let them miss the special storytimes at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., after which they can meet Clifford and have their picture taken with him. There will be face painting in the afternoon and library staff will be there to answer questions and help people sign up for library cards.

If you're an online shopper you can still get involved because the book fair will be available online May 3rd to May 8th. Just enter Bookfair ID No. 11287562 when you're checking out at bn.com.
