If you've ever been a victim of vandalism, just the thought of it likely makes your blood boil.

Sioux Falls police have been looking for suspects after several recent reports of broken windows in houses and vehicles, mostly in the southwest part of the city.

BB-guns are suspected in several of the cases.

I can sympathize. I had a 1976 Chevrolet Scottsdale pickup for many years, before I sold it last fall.

My parents had bought it new, and when they left the farm in 1994 my dad asked me to keep it. I was happy to, although I had to park it outside in the summer and pay to have it stored in the winter.

But even though I treasured it, it was a target for vandals. The side mirrors were hit three times, the driver's side window was broken and finally, someone put a crack in the windshield, all with BB or pellet guns.

Anonymous, stupid, irresponsible vandals with too much time on their hands were responsible, and I had no recourse.

So I can sympathize with the homeowners and vehicle owners who have been victimized in these new cases.
