Despite traveling the world and being away from home most of the time, Beyonce has shown that she still thinks about her hometown of Houston, Texas through her acts of goodwill for the city's unfortunate.

Rolling Out reports that the 32-year-old singer has, over the years, donated $7 million dollars toward the construction of low-income housing for homeless families in the Houston area.

In an interview with KHOU, Rev. Rudy Rasmus said, “She’s an incredible human being. Has an incredible heart and has been extremely helpful in our mission and our ministry here."

“She has a global platform and is doing some amazing work and I'm glad she’s a friend of mine,” he continued.

Knowles' contributions have gone towards a 43-unit apartment complex named Knowles-Temenos Place, which offers “affordable housing opportunities for extremely-low to low-income persons as well as homeless individuals.”

Beyonce is a member of Rasmus' congregation at St. John’s United Methodist Church.

In addition to the housing complex, Knowles also reportedly donated half a million dollars to Chime for Change, a global campaign "to convene, unite and strengthen the voices speaking out for girls and women around the world."
