If you have a carton of Blue Bell ice cream in the fridge right now, you won't for long.

Texas-based Blue Bell Creameries has issued a recall of all products after two samplings of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream tested positive for listeriosis.

The recall includes all of Blue Bell's ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet and other frozen treats because they could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

In March the company issued its first recall after the ice cream contaminated with listeriosis was linked to three deaths in a Kansas hospital and five other individuals were sickened with heart disease in both Kansas and Texas.

Symptoms for Listeria include; high fever, severe headache, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems, according to the Food and Drug Administration. In the U.S. nearly 1,600 people become seriously ill with listeria each year; 16% of these cases result in deaths.

Blue Bell's chief executive Paul Kruse issued a statement on Monday night saying, "That the company can't say with certainty how the bacteria was introduced to the manufacturing line."

A production line in Brenham, Texas, and a second line in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma were responsible for the food borne illness during the first recall back in March.

The recall extends to retail outlets in 23 states and internationally.

Kruse promised to make sure all products are safe before they go back on sale.
