Build Your Own R2-D2

I'm pretty excited for the new Star Wars movie to come out next month. (December 17 and 18, in case you were wondering.) So this really caught my eye today on Reddit.

User smokeysunrise on imgur posted some amazing photos of how they built their own R2-D2 from Star Wars. It looks really intricate but really awesome.

Most of the body parts are made from aluminum, styrene, or resin. The plans come from AstroMech.net, a website devoted to builders of R2-D2 droids.

It's too technical for me, but I have friends who could probably do this and I hope they know what I want for Christmas.
