The Minnesota Twins need the All-Star break. The Twins fell Thursday, 4-3 and lost for the 11th time in 12 games. The Twins fell to 37-52 and 12 games back of division leader Detroit. It won't get any easier either, as Minnesota plays at the New York Yankees this weekend before the All-Star break.

For the Twins, they have two All-Stars, catcher Joe Mauer and closer Glen Perkins, but other than that there are still plenty of growing pains.

The Twins are 21st in hitting, batting .245 as a team with 82 home runs. Meanwhile, on the mound, the Twins are worse. Minnesota is 29th, second to last in the MLB in pitching. The Twins have a 4.51 ERA, allowing 420 earned runs while striking out 526 batters and picking up 23 saves. The Twins pitchers allow hitters to bat .283 against them.

In the field, the Twins are in the top ten on defense. Minnesota is ranked sixth in MLB, and have a .988 fielding percentage.

The Twins get four days off for the All-Star break, and then open a three-game homestead at Target Field with Cleveland.
