SIOUX FALLS, SD -- Once again the Sioux Falls Canaries couldn't find a way to contain the explosive bats of the Sioux City Explorers as they dropped their second straight contest to their I-29 rivals, this time by a score of 8-2.

After cruising through four shutout innings on only 39 pitches, Canaries starter Kyle Vazquez hit a wall in the 5th, allowing four hits, hitting a batter and making a fielding error of his own.  By the end of the decisive innings, the Explorers had taken a 6-0 lead and never looked back.

The only scoring for the day for the Canaries came in the 8th inning on a two-run double from Brandon Jones.  The Canaries had opportunities to score earlier in the game, but left the bases loaded in the 4th and stranded another two runners in the 5th.

The Canaries will play host to the defending American Association champs, Gary Southshore on Monday and Tuesday before hitting the road for seven games in St. Paul and Fargo. Monday and Tuesday's games at The Birdcage both begin at 7:05 PM.
