Cold Weather Water Experiment [VIDEO]

So, Andy and I saw a few YouTube videos of people throwing hot water into below zero temps and it automatically turning to snow.  We thought we have to try this.  It is an experiment so easy that even we can't mess it up.  And apparently we suck at life.

We tried again and it didn't get much better.

And Andy wanted to play a little more and he got a few snowy crystals but not many.

What did we do wrong?  Was it not cold enough?  Are we just terrible scientists? Should we stick to our day job?  Is that enough questions?
