So I'm riding my motorcycle the other day, checking out some of the country gravel roads, when I stumble across a box spring and mattress lying alongside the edge of the ditch.

First thing I think to myself is, "Hm, wonder who the lazy dumb a_s is who decided to make this gravel road their personal dumping ground?"

Not ten minutes later, on a different gravel road, I run across a big-screen TV that has been thrown into the ditch.

AND THEN, shortly after that, I spot a sofa bed sitting along the side of a different gravel road (Sorry, no picture of this one. I accidentally deleted it from my phone).

Come on folks - we're better than this!!!

What, you're too busy to drive to the landfill out by Wild Water West, but not too busy to drive a short ways out of town to throw your junk into someone else's ditch?

Stop acting like you're the most important person in the world - BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT!!! All I can figure is you're either dumb, lazy, or both (my bet is both).

Having grown up on a farm, located on a gravel road, I realize this is nothing new. It's been going on for decades. But what makes a person think this is okay?

With all the resources available to us these days, there's no excuse for this sort of behavior. Heck, the city just recently mailed everyone a FREE pass to the landfill.

There's the Households Hazard Waste Facility up on north Cliff Avenue. There's the Sanitary Landfill west of town. There are also a number of private businesses.

(By the way, I've included a link to all the resources available. Just click on the blue words above - assuming, of course, you're not too lazy to even do that!)

And then we wonder why the "country folk" hate it when the "city folk" come out over the 4th of July holiday and shoot off their fireworks on the gravel roads. Can you blame them?

Perhaps the only way we're gonna stop this sort of bad behavior is when we see this happen, get the license plate of the vehicle involved so we can turn them into authorities.

Finally, if any of this stuff I ran across is yours - get up off your lazy butt, go pick up your crap, and take it to where you should've taken it in the first place!!!
