Sioux Falls Police say a confrontation between two groups of people took place early Wednesday morning at the east side Walmart.

"We had three males that were together. They happened to meet a group of five people inside the store. The group of five started talking at the other three individuals. Words went back and forth. Eventually, the five people went outside and waited for the three individuals," explained Sioux Falls Police Department Public Information Officer Sam Clemens.

"Once the three men got outside, we had a 16-year-old that threatened one of the 19-year-olds. There was a 20-year-old man ended up grabbing what everybody thought was a gun inside a car. He pointed that at the three men as well."

That's when the three victims left the parking lot!

"They were able to get out of there. The five suspects followed them. There was pretty much a car chase where the suspects were following the victims. The victims called police. Eventually, officers got the suspects stopped. The gun that was displayed was actually an air soft gun. But, it looked realistic and there was no way nobody could tell the difference. That man was arrested for aggravated assault. The 16-year-old was arrested for disorderly conduct. Fortunately no body was injured."

Clemens identified the man arrested for aggravated assault as 20-year-old Matthew Robert Blom of Sioux Falls.
