Contractor Earns Incentive for Sioux Falls Intersection
Finishing work early on the reconstruction of the intersection at 57th Street and Western Avenue in Sioux Falls has brought a big check to a local contractor.
Sioux Falls Public Works Director Mark Cotter says the intersection work was substantially completed more than six weeks early, meaning D & G Concrete Construction of Sioux Falls earned an incentive of $240,000.
Cotter says overall favorable weather, an excellent contracting team and the financial incentive the city was offering were factors in the early completion.
The reconstruction work added additional left and right turn lanes at the intersection, widened Western Avenue to five lanes from 57th Street to South Remington Place, and added a center median on Western Avenue from 57th Street to South Crossing Place.
Cotter says the intersection is used by more than 30,000 vehicles a day.
