The title of the recipe is “Triple Chocolate Mess,” but it could also be dubbed “The Matchmaker.”

Maybe we are just looking for a little bit of comfort in our lives.  Possibly this is just a way to connect with our fellow man or woman.  If you have the ability to make a delicious dessert, for a certain segment of the population it gives you some street cred.

The event was called Crocktober.  It's a party designed to bring together food which was  made in a crock pot or long cooking device.  Meats and soups are usually the standard fare in the ceramic units.  My submission is a cake that takes between 6 and 8 hours depending on the effectiveness of the slo-cooker.

When it was discovered that I made the delightful dish, the action started to heat up.  I had to write down pertinent information to satisfy some urges.  Namely the recipe not my contact info.

Who knew that a cake could be such a conversation starter. So that you are not left wanting for a hot dessert that could be the key to ending that search for love.

Triple Chocolate Mess (for the Crock Pot)

1 package Devil's Food Cake Mix

1 5 oz package Instant Chocolate Pudding

1 12 oz package Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips

4 eggs

1 pint Sour Cream

3/4 cup vegetable oil

1 cup water

Spray the crock pot with non-stick cooking spray.  Mix the ingredients by hand in a bowl then pour into a round crock pot.  (The dessert cooks unevenly in an oval crock pot.)

Cook on low for 6-8 hours and serve with ice cream.  Just spoon the contents out of the pot, no slicing necessary.
