A two vehicle head on crash near Tabor, South Dakota on Thursday April 14, 2016 claimed the life of three people, who may not have been wearing seat belts.

The crash took place near mile market 366 on South Dakota Highway 50, just west of Tabor at 3:43 PM according to authorities:

A 2003 Ford Taurus was traveling east in the westbound lane on South Dakota Highway 50. It collided head-on with a 1995 Mercury Villager which was traveling west in the appropriate lane.

Both drivers and the front seat passenger of the Mercury Villager died. The second passenger in the Mercury Villager suffered serious non-life threatening injuries.

Of those in the vehicles, at least two of the four were not wearing seat belts.  The names of those involved have not yet been released pending notification of relatives.
