A Roslyn man died Sunday in a one-vehicle crash some five-and-a-half miles north of Webster on State Highway 25 in Day County.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says James Russell Duffy, 63, was northbound shortly after 11:30am when his pickup truck left the roadway, traveled through a field, turned left and crossed the highway into another field.

The vehicle then went through a fence and down an embankment onto the ice of a lake.

Duffy was not wearing a seat belt.

He was taken to a Webster hospital and then transferred to an Aberdeen hospital where he died of his injuries.

The Patrol says the crash is still being investigated.
