High winds roared across much of the Dakotas Sunday night through Monday and resulted in a wind advisory for much of the area.

High winds, low humidity and dry conditions are all factors in making a fire danger index rise across the plains Sunday night and Monday. Fire officials are also on high alert throughout the Black Hills in Western South Dakota.

According to the National Weather Service the winds are expected to ebb early Monday evening.
