Darius McCrary, an actor best known for his work playing opposite Steve Urkel as his neighbor Eddie on the television show Family Matters, was arrested yesterday (March 25) for reportedly being behind in child support payments.

According to TMZ, the actor was seen in family court on Wednesday where he was ordered by the judge to be arrested and was then put in jail. TMZ goes on to report that the actor was then given two options to choose from -- either he pay $5,500 in owed child support or he stay in jail for a full 14 days. He reportedly decided to pay the child support he owed. McCrary was allegedly only in jail for a few hours and was eventually released the same day.

McCrary later posted on Twitter about the incident, where he seemed to claim he was wrongly arrested. He wrote, "All I'm trying to do is raise my son #BeingDadIsNotAnOption" as well as, "Shot [sic] Out & a BIG #salute 2 the Oakland county Sherrifs and All Fathers being wrongly persecuted...#StayStrong U guys rock!!" He then posted a photo of himself with his son and captioned it with, "#TBT school shopping 4 my son. Do anything 4that little guy, love him beyond measure. #Dad." McCrary also retweeted people who were showing him support.

McCrary began acting as a child, making his film debut in the movie Big Shots back in 1987. He continued acting in different projects over the years. He has an upcoming movie coming out at some point in 2015 called Haunted.
