Gentry and Renee Nickell, who live in Crestview, FL. decided their daughter was traveling life’s wrong path.  Their daughter who is 13 had been being disrespectful and her grades had been steadily gone down.  At wits end they decided to make her punishment public humiliation.  Saturday, the teen (whose name has not been released) spent an hour and a 1/2 standing at a busy intersection with a hand-written sign saying: "I’m a self-entitled teenager w/no respect for authority. I’m also super smart, yet I have 3 'D’s' because I DON’T CARE."  Some folks did call the cops.   According to Yahooshine:

A policeman arrived, talked to the girl and said:  “She is aware of her punishment and she was not in any harm"  Her mother Renee explained: “We just felt like she just kind of gave up.  We just got to the point where we just didn't know what else to do,"  When it was all said and done her dad said:  "At the end, she gave me a hug in front of the police officer and she told me she was sorry.”

We are seeing more and more public punishments like this, as you can see in the video below.  So what do you think, is this punishment to harsh?  Would this work in Sioux Falls?
