"Hide Away" singer Daya was scheduled to perform at the District on Friday. Tuesday we received word that the show was cancelled, but didn't know why. She sent a video apology to Augustana:

Wednesday we received a press release from Augustana University, which was sponsoring the show through the Union Board of Governors Big Event Committee. The release read:

Citing health concerns, pop singer Daya has canceled her concert scheduled for Friday, Feb. 26, in Sioux Falls, Augustana University announced today.

Officials are working to reschedule the event to a later date.

Friday’s concert, hosted by Augustana and organized by its Union Board of Governors Big Event Committee, was set to be held at The District.

"Due to health concerns, Daya has been put on vocal rest and unfortunately has to cancel her performance this week,” the singer’s representatives said. “She’s very sorry she can’t be there and she is working to find a new date to reschedule.”

If Daya was put on vocal rest, why is she performing live on a radio station in St. Louis and still playing all other scheduled concerts? She is currently on tour with Jack and Jack and all of those dates are still on.

This video was posted on Y98.com on Tuesday. Note the same black turtle neck is worn in both her apology video and the performance.

I don't know what the real reason for the cancellation was, but I'm not buying "vocal issues" as the reason. At least not the only reason. Whatever the reason is, Daya, tell us the whole story. You're a "good, good girl."

Wednesday night, February 24, she played another show while on "vocal rest."

If you purchased tickets for the show you can save your ticket(s) for use at the rescheduled Daya concert (the date of which is yet to be determined) or request a refund in person from The District, located at 4521 W. Empire Place in Sioux Falls, or by phone at at 605.271.5600.
