Trevor W. Blankartz was arrested for DWI after his vehicle hit a Harley Davidson, driven by Dale Wayne Schoffelman, age 56 from Sioux Falls who was pronounced dead at the scene.  Officer Sam Clemens says although he did not wear a helmet and there was trauma to his head, it is not certain if wearing a helmet would have saved his life, due to other injuries.

Just after 4:00 PM, authorities were dispatched to the area of 41stSt and Westbrooke Lane.

The investigation revealed that a 1991Buick Regal was attempting to enter onto 41 Street from  Westbrooke Lane when it collided with a 2012 Harley Davidson Road Glide Motorcycle that was traveling west bound.

The Buick Regal was driven by Trevor W. Blankartz, 25, of Sioux Falls.  Trevor Blankartz was lodged at the Minnehaha County Jail on charges of Vehicular Homicide, DWI, and careless driving.  The DWI charges stem from pills being taken, not from alcohol consumption.
