Now that we're officially into the month of November, we're into that time of the year when the "S" word can unexpectedly show up in the forecast - the "S" word being snow!

The "S" word can also be used to describe the amount of sunshine -or lack of it - that we normally see this time of the year.

According to Todd Heitkamp, Meteorologist with the Sioux Falls National Weather Service, November is typically the cloudiest month of the year here in this part of the country.  During a routine November, the sun is out roughly 40 percent of the daylight hours.

Heitkamp says November is also a month where not a lot of snow typically falls over the region.
