A tip from a citizen led to the arrest of a Sioux Falls woman on Monday evening. She faces multiple charges which are compounded by involving her children.

Sioux Falls Police conducted a search that started with a citizen seeing an intoxicated woman leave a convenience store Monday afternoon in the eastern part of the city. The suspect was eventually found at Frank Olson Park about 8:00 PM.

She was deemed under the influence after some questioning. A search of the car also produced an open container according to Officer Sam Clemens. “This was a beer bottle that was half-empty.”

Heather Hinckley, 37, was arrested for her second DWI along with open container and child endangerment. Her children ages seven and five were playing at the park when Hinckley was taken into custody.

People are able to drink alcohol at most Sioux Falls parks. Alcohol is prohibited at Arrowhead, Falls, Fawick, Heritage, Kenny Anderson, Lyon, McKennan, Pasley, Tomar, Tower, Tuthill, Van Eps, Veterans’ Memorial, and Whittier Parks. No alcohol other than malt beverage is allowed in any park.
