Traffic signal improvements are being installed on Minnesota Avenue in Sioux Falls. When complete, the changes should improve traffic flow.

Starting Tuesday March 17, various lane closures to account for the signal changes would take place at specific intersections on Minnesota Avenue. Five targeted junctions with 10th Street, 11th Street, 26th Street, 41st Street, and 69th Street would get a software upgrade.

Mainly, the install would change the left turn phasing at these intersections. This work includes changing some of the left turn phasing into Flashing Yellow Arrows. About two days were planned for project completion.

For a brief time it was reported that as part of the process lights at Tenth and Minnesota were flashing red in all directions. That means the intersection was essentially a four-way stop.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
