The owner of East Side Plaza is injecting $1.5 Million dollars to the structure that has been at the corner of Cleveland and East 10th Street for 40 years in Sioux Falls.

Over the next year, the facade of the shopping center is being updated, a monument sign improved, lighting upgraded, and landscaping enhanced. Shops and stores will remain open throughout the upgrade.

Scott Schoenen, president, co-owner and property manager describes the work to create the future look:

We are giving the building a complete facelift. The exterior will receive a much more contemporary look and feel.  We’re going to make it more welcoming to our tenants’ customers. There are benefits for the tenants, as well. For one, upgrading the plaza without assessing our tenants expresses our appreciation for their loyalty.

Several factors are driving the renovation. The shopping center is a gateway between the downtown area and the city’s growing east-side business district.

Present store tenants are: Austad’s Golf, Family Dollar, Beds & Beds, The Upper Cut Bar & Grill, Safe Ship Specialty Shipping. Tomacelli’s Pizza & Pasta and Players Club Casino are in a separate building on the property and will be renovated in the future phase of the improvement project. The parking lot is scheduled to be updated in 2017.
