A 19-year old escaped inmate has been apprehended.

Jubal Grant was being held in the Charles Mix County jail earlier this week.

According to authorities and multiple sources, Grant assaulted a correctional officer on Wednesday where he was being held on aggravated assault charges then escaped in a stolen vehicle.

Grant then was located in Vermillion after he barricaded himself in a home Thursday when Vermillion Police located the car and Grant kept law enforcement in a standoff for several hours.

Law enforcement eventually sent in a special robot to help open the line of communication.

Police say the standoff lasted for more than several hours. Grant was eventually taken into custody without further incident around 8:30 PM Thursday evening.
