Early Tuesday morning, Charles Beeney Jr. held a Huron jailer hostage with a makeshift weapon, escaped, stole a truck and drove to Sioux Falls, where he was arrested Tuesdya evening, thanks to tips from citizens.

Wednesday, Beeney was back in court in Huron where the judge decided to send him back to Sioux Falls, to the State Penitentiary, for the next two years.

It's the maximum sentence for Beeney's aggravated eluding charge from last month when authorities caught him stealing fuel for a stolen pickup, which turned into a multi-county chase, and ended with a crash near Alpena.

No new charges have been filed regarding Tuesday's escape.
