The Compass Center (TCC), a rape and domestic abuse center, will host its ninth annual “It’s in the Bag” fundraiser Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. The event theme this year is “Power of One” and begins at 5:00 PM.
A short program begins at 6:00 pm will feature keynote speaker Matthew Sandusky, Founder and Executive Director of Peaceful Hearts Foundation. He was a victim of childhood sexual abuse from the ages of 8 to 17 at the hands of his adopted father, Jerry Sandusky. Matthew’s mission is to turn his traumatic personal experience into a mechanism to prevent childhood sexual abuse and help other survivors heal.
Two people will receive awards at the event. Lisa Kuzman, owner of Lisa Kuzman Coaching and former TCC client, will receive the Community Advocate Award for her work in promoting the agency in the community. Karen Muller will receive the Volunteer of the Year Award for her work with TCC’s Court Watcher Program.
The evening includes silent and live auctions. A special purse will be raffled at the event, and grab bags will be available for purchase.
