You can do just about anything using your Facebook account. You can send someone a birthday wish, invite someone to an event or even brag about something that is going on in your life. But now, according to a judge in New York City, a woman has been given permission to use Facebook to serve her husband divorce papers.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Matthew Cooper will be allowing Ellanora Baidoo, a nurse from Brooklyn, New York, to serve a divorce summons to her husband, Victor Sena Blood-Dzraku, using Facebook.

According to Ms. Baidoo's lawyer, the couple married in a civil ceremony in 2009, but the marriage started falling apart when Blood-Dzraku didn't make good on his promise for a traditional Ghanaian wedding ceremony. Baidoo and Blood-Dzraku are both from Ghana.

Baidoo's lawyer says that his client has only been contacted by her husband occasionally--over the phone--and through Facebook and only to tell her that he didn't have a job or a permanent address.

Ms. Baidoo will be allowed to serve the divorce papers once a week for three consecutive weeks, or until the soon-to-be ex-husband 'acknowledges' them.

Unfortunately for Ms. Baidoo, everyone on her Friend List will not be able to see the divorce papers. She will have to serve them through a private Facebook message.
