FBI to Reward Two South Dakota Men 50K
KDLT News is reporting the two individuals will be given the reward money for their part in helping tip off authorities and the FBI to the fact Jeffs was spotted at a pawn shop in Yankton back in June. The sighting helped lead to the arrest of Jeffs at Lewis and Clark Marina near the South Dakota-Nebraska state border on June 14.
The FBI made the reward announcement in a statement released on Monday (July 31).
The identity of the two men will be kept private, but according to the KDLT News report, the reward money will be spilt proportionally between the two men based on their level of assistance. The Bureau declined to disclose the split.
Jeffs is currently back in custody in Utah where he is facing a number of charges, including up to 10 years in prison if convicted on a failure-to-appear charge.
