A handful of South Dakota communities have decided to kick butts on Wednesday, March 18.

Don't worry the residents of these towns won't be opening up a case of whoop-ass on each other, but the children in these five South Dakota locations are declaring war on tobacco companies all day.

It's all part of nationwide campaign being put on by schoolchildren across the country called "Kick Butts Day."

The program is sponsored by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and is encouraging kids to stay tobacco-free. It also calls for tobacco companies to stop marketing products to them and urge elected officials to do more to reduce youth tobacco use.

More than 1,000 events are planned nationwide for the day.

In South Dakota, the communities participating include; Spearfish, Parmelee on the Rosebud Indian Reservation, Waubay, Watertown and Ellsworth Air Force Base east of Rapid City.
