Today, Chris Daughtry and his self-named band are one of the most popular acts in rock today. Their self-titled debut album was one of the fastest selling debut albums in history, selling over 1 million copies in just five weeks and reaching #1 on the Billboard charts. The band has released 7 albums in all, and sold over 7.6 million records.

But it all started with American Idol.

Chris Daughtry appeared in Season 5 (2006) of the hugely popular reality show. His rendition of "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" by Fuel was one of the highlights of the season.

Daughtry made it into the top 4 before being eliminated in a bit of surprise. Among the other contestants that appeared in season 5 included country stars Kellie Pickler and Bucky Covington, pop singer and actress Katherine McPhee, Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Ace Young, singer Elliott Yamin and eventual Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks.
