State Transportation authorities in Minnesota were forced to close portion of I-90 Sunday afternoon between Magnolia and Luverne, Minnesota due to flooding.

Torrential rains pushed the dam at Blue Mound out of its spillway early Sunday morning causing a larger closure from Luverne to the South Dakota border.

By 8:30am, flood waters had started to recede, allowing transportation officials to reopen the stretch of I-90 between Luverne, Minnesota and the South Dakota border.

But the water has not receded enough to keep the whole stretch open. Rock River near Luverne is under a flood warning and with more heavy rain in the forecast for Monday, state officials closed the stretch of I-90 again.  It was reopened Sunday night.

The only road open to get across Rock River east-west is County Road 1.

Heavy rain is forecast for Monday for the area again, so the National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the region.
