Flu season is here and hitting hard. In South Dakota, the  Associated Press reports that there have been over 280 confirmed cases in the state and over 120 hospitalizations this season. The spread of the disease remains at “widespread,” the highest level.

According to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, the very old and very young are some of the most at risk. Also pregnant women and people with medical conditions like asthma among others.

To fight the spread of the virus the CDC recommends getting a flu shot. If you do get the flu early treatment is important. To help avoid the illness wash your hands and cover your mouth when you cough. Also, clean the things you touch the most like your computer, phone, keys, doorknobs and remote controls. Keep hand sanitizer on hand as well. And if you are sick stay home.
