The suspicion ends about former Sioux Falls Fire Chief Jim Sideras. He faces very serious charges related to child porn.

Less than a week ago (May 2), authorities searched Sideras’ home and on that same day he was fired by the City of Sioux Falls. A tense period passed until the charges were announced by Minnehaha County States Attorney Aaron McGowan.

The official charges against Sideras are: 10 counts of possession of child pornography, a Class 4 Felony, which carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for each count.

Once the arrest warrant was issued, Sideras did turn himself over to authorities. He did post bond which was set for $10,000.

McGowan’s office will not release any other information at this time. However the affidavit supporting the warrant for arrest is now public record.

The City of Sioux Falls released a statement on the matter which was posted about 20 minutes after revealing the charges, in which the city said it would "continue to fully cooperate with the investigation, which has been led by the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation."

Sideras’ last day of employment was May 2, 2017.
