Most of the attention around this intersection deals with the street going over the road.  The Interstate itself will soon get an upgrade.

On Monday, July 7, the South Dakota Department of Transportation will be closing a one mile segment of the northbound passing lane and the southbound driving lane of Interstate 229 near the 26th Street exit (Exit 5).

I-229 north and southbound traffic will be placed in a single lane while pavement repair operations are ongoing.

The anticipated completion date is July 18.

Motorists are asked to slow down and be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, construction equipment and workers adjacent to the driving lane.
