WINNIPEG, Manitoba. – The Sioux Falls Canaries dropped an 8-1 matinee to the Winnipeg Goldeyes on Thursday afternoon, losing the rubber game of a three-game series at Shaw Park.

Starting pitchers from both sides turned in quality starts, but Edgar Osuna (2-1) bested Ben Moore (7-4) with 6 1/3 innings on three hits and one run in his third start of the season. The Goldeyes bullpen shut out the Canaries the rest of the way.

Sioux Falls (27-38) scored first on Cory Morales’ RBI single in the third inning, but Winnipeg rattled off eight unanswered runs to run away with the game. Luis Alen tied the game a base hit in the fourth, and Fehlandt Lentini drove in the go-ahead run against Moore with the sixth. Alen followed with another RBI knock to make it 3-1.

Moore exited after the sixth inning, and the Canaries bullpen gave up five runs in the seventh eighth innings. Alen was 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Casey Haerther was 2-for-4 with a two-run double. Winnipeg (31-31) cracked 16 hits in all, 14 of which were singles.

Moore gave up three runs and 10 hits. He did not walk anybody and struck out a season-low three batters.

The Canaries begin a three-game road series against the Lincoln Saltdogs at 7:05 p.m. on Friday.
