Golfers Have Belongings, Golf Bags Stolen at Two Sioux Falls Courses

Unless you’re a hacker like me, typically a person goes to a golf course to relax, de-stress, and play either 9 or 18 rounds, on a nice sunny day. The last thing that should be on your mind is having some a-hole jack your stuff while at the course.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what has happened recently at two area golf courses.

KDLT News is reporting that golf bags containing clubs and other belongings were stolen at two different golf courses over the past week in the Sioux Empire.

One golfer had $3,900 worth of equipment ripped off from their golf bag while it was left unattended for a few minutes on a motorized golf cart parked outside the clubhouse entrance at Willow Run Golf Course on Saturday (April 15).

Two other similar type incidents also happened earlier last week at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls.

In the case of the Elmwood theft, KDLT News says two golfers had their bags stolen, the bags contained their clubs and other belongings like a range finder and even a watch. Much like the Willow Run case, the golfers simply stepped away from their bags for just a couple of minutes; one theft happened while the golfer was in the clubhouse and the other happened in the practice area.

Kinda gives a whole new meaning to getting “robbed” on the golf course I’d say.

According to the report, police have no suspects in both cases.

Both golf courses plan to take extra steps to help keep golfers stuff safe. Willow Run plans to add extra security cameras, while Elmwood is making sure to inform all their customers about the incidents.

With that in mind, it might be a good idea in the future to keep one eye on the ball and the other on your golf bag the next time you hit the links.
