We all know people have obsessions. For me it's the Miami Dolphins, an obsession that never fails to send me on the verge of a nervous breakdown every September through December. Notice I didn't include the months of January and February. Since the Dolphins are never playing football during those two months. Hence the reason I'm on the verge of being Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs this time of year.

Individuals aren't the only ones capable of obsessions, entire states have them too. I mean just stroll down to Nebraska during football season and tell me they aren't obsessed with the Cornhuskers.  Or visit Alaska or Arizona and try to convince me people residing in those states are not fond of their guns.

There's a new study out now that talks about the weird food obsessions each state has as well.

Researchers at the University of Arizona recently analyzed 3.5 million tweets between October of last year and May of this year, where people hashtagged different types of foods.

Most of their results made sense. For instance, people in Arizona love tamales, Idaho is obsessed with potatoes, Texans enjoy a good brisket, and southern states love themselves some grits.

And then there is South Dakota. Supposedly we here in the great state of South Dakota are obsessed with soybeans. Soybeans! Really? I would have thought corn, beef, or maybe pheasant.

But soybeans? When was the last time you actually ate a soyburger? Or some soy nuts, soy ice cream or soy yogurt?

South Dakota isn't even a top 5 soybean producing state.

I guess I don't know many people who are jonesing for soybeans and soy products all the time.

But who knows, maybe living in a soybean obsessed state isn't all that bad. It could be worse, we could be like Iowa, according to the study, Iowans are obsessed with Cloves.

Imagine having an obsession for something that is used to help cure intestinal gas, nausea, and vomiting?

I think I'd rather go eat a soyburger!
